Focused on the critical substrate-prep phase, the session walks through seven common "deadly sins" of floor covering installation—from assuming a substrate is ready without checking, to treating moisture mitigation as an afterthought, skipping elevation surveys, mishandling the mixing of self-leveling underlayments, patches, and skim coats, underestimating jobsite logistics, and dismissing the roles of environment and proper floor prep. Participants will learn how the LATICRETE Concrete & Substrate Prep product line can be used to proactively prevent problems. With industry data showing that moisture alone drives roughly 80% of commercial flooring failures at a cost of billions annually, attendees will leave equipped to spot risks early, prep with confidence, and protect the long-term integrity of every installation.

Aaron Abbott, Senior Technical Product Manager with LATICRETE International, is a building materials industry veteran. Aaron is responsible for product and application technology, education, outreach and helping customers plan for and execute perfect flooring projects. Since 2005, he has specialized in substrate preparation and flooring systems working with architects, specifiers, contractors and building owners in the US and internationally.
