Proper surface preparation is the foundation for durable, high-performing flooring systems. This session explores the latest innovations, materials, and techniques that ensure long-term success in floor installations by addressing key challenges such as moisture, adhesion, leveling, and sound control.

Attendees will learn how to evaluate substrate conditions, select the right preparation products for various flooring types, and apply best practices that align with manufacturer and industry standards. Through a detailed look at moisture mitigation, priming, and leveling systems, participants will gain clarity on which layers are necessary for specific flooring types and how to specify the most effective solutions for each project environment.

By the end of this session, participants will understand how thoughtful surface preparation leads to superior aesthetics, improved performance, and greater installation confidence across all flooring systems.


Jake Stadler has 10+ years experience as a construction systems partner in a progression of product management roles. Currently, as Bostik's Category Manager for surface preparation and soft flooring systems, he directs the overall product line development, marketing and training activities.
