FCICA is excited to share – the 2020 FCICA Mid-Year Meeting: Connecting the Flooring Community - is going virtual. Mark your calendars for this first virtual venture.
The 2-day online meeting, Tuesday – Wednesday, October 20 – 21, will kick off with a keynote speaker, followed by 2 full days of association presentations, educational sessions, online networking and virtual happy hours. The meeting is FREE for all attendees.
CJ Church, Executive Director shared “We’re putting together an interesting educational and engaging program of informative how-tos, innovative product presentations, an industry leader keynote speaker and online get togethers."
The current schedule of topics includes:
Managing Jobsite Risks - In this CIM Sponsored session using the discussion and input format, Don Styka, CIM and Mike Pigeon, CIM, will hold a Q & A educational session that includes managing onsite conditions in order to minimize claims, clarifying the job scope before the job starts and establishing manufacturer support with warranty requirements.
COVID and Liability for Contractors and Business Owners – Doing business looks different today. It’s imperative contractors and business owners understand how to move forward in this new environment. In this session, the presenter will discuss COVID’s impact and the steps contractors and business owners need to take to protect themselves and their employees.
Distribution Challenges During the COVID-19 Pandemic – The industry’s distribution network has been impacted by the current state of affairs. In this session, Bill Mabeus, Executive VP of Fishman Flooring Solutions, will address the ripple effect within distribution channels, the challenges business owners are facing and how they’re responding to keep product distribution in balance.
Basic Chemistry of Adhesives - In this seminar, basic chemistries used for adhesives involved with bonding resilient, carpet and wood flooring to common substrates, will be discussed. The speaker will go into depth about the new emerging adhesive chemistries on the marker that provide unique properties to solve common installation problems. More specific, topics will include: basic chemistry of flooring adhesives; high moisture resistant, water-based adhesives for LVT; modified saline-based adhesives for resilient flooring and aerosol-based adhesives.
Mat Bond Test ASTM F3311-19 - Kevin Phillips, Director of Technical Services at Novalis US, LLC. and member of ASTM F06, was instrumental in developing the new ASTM F3311 − 19 Standard Practice for Mat Bond Evaluation of Performance and Compatibility for Resilient Flooring System Components Prior to Installation. During this session, Kevin will cover topics like: who, what and when to test, the responsibilities, the liability, its evaluation and importantly what’s the real cost and who pays. At the end of the presentation, attendees should be able to understand how adhesives are made, how they work, and how to select the right adhesive to match any given floor installation.
This year’s theme: Connecting the Flooring Community, has particularly significant meaning today. While the flooring community 'foundation' remains strong – the virtual platform keeps the community connected. Indeed, it allows FCICA to broaden its audience reach and accessibility. No need to travel; business casual from one’s home/business – and free and open to all attendees. Join in! Registration opens mid-September. Visit here for program, schedule and presentation updates.
